Huawei is all set to launch the Huawei Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro today at an event in Munich, Germany. The event will be live-streamed today, starting 5:30 PM IST. The live stream will be available on Huawei’s website, Twitter, and Facebook live with the handle @Huaweimobile. The company is expected to launch the Huawei Mate 30 Lite, Mate 30, Mate 30 Pro, and Mate 30 RS Porche Design at the event. Moreover, we may see a 5G variant of the smartphone as well.
Huawei won’t be able to use Google’s Android OS, services and popular apps like Google Maps on the upcoming Mate 30 series due to the US ban. However, Huawei spokesperson Joe Kelly has said that the company would continue to use the Android OS and ecosystem if the US government allows them to do so. Otherwise, they would continue to develop their own operating system and ecosystem, Harmony OS, which can apparently be used on smartphones, wearables, TVs and more.
It is not yet clear what OS would the Mate 30 series run. However, it is also rumoured that Huawei Mate 30 series could run on an open-source version of Android.
Huawei Mate 30 series is rumoured to be powered by the Kirin 990 chipset. The smartphones are said to ship with 25W wireless charging support, which is even higher than the 15W wireless fast charging that is currently available on Samsung’s latest Note flagship.
The highlight feature of the Huawei Mate 30 Pro could be its cameras. The Mate 30 Pro is speculated to come with a quad rear camera setup comprising of dual 40MP main cameras - f/1.8 super wide-angle movie camera + f/1.6 wide-angle lens - alongside an 8MP telephoto lens with f/2.4 aperture and a 3D depth sensor. The phone might be capable of shooting 7680fps (yes, you read that right. It is not a typo) super slow-motion video recording, which is 8 times 960fps.
According to the latest leaks, the Huawei Mate 30 Pro is said to support 720p video recording at 7680fps and 1080p at 960fps. It is reported to have camera features like ultra-high-speed photography, time delay photography, ultra high definition night photography, super night scene, black and white art, large wide-angle, and many more.
As for other specifications, the Huawei Mate 30 Pro is said to feature a 6.7-inch FHD+ (2400 x 1176 pixels resolution) waterfall display. It is rumoured to pack a 4500mAh battery with support for 40W wired fast charging and 27W wireless fast charging.
On the other hand, the Huawei Mate may feature a 6.5-inch FHD+ display. It is said to sport a 24MP + 6MP + 8MP + 5MP quad rear camera setup. Both smartphones may launch with up to 8GB RAM variants. The Mate 30 may pack a 4200mAh battery.
