Here is what you can expect from Apples September 10 event

Apple hosts a few events throughout the year, but none garners the kind of excitement like the September iPhone event. The event kicks off in a few hours and in case you’re wondering, here’s everything we expect to be announced tonight.

The iPhone 11 trio

The main star of the show is going to be the iPhone trio, whose features have been leaked extensively. The iPhone 11 is expected to be the successor to the iPhone XR while the two more powerful iPhones will be the iPhone 11 Pro and the iPhone 11 Pro Max. The three phones are expected to come packing Apple’s new A13 processor. Other rumors include the Apple Pencil compatibility for the Pro models of the iPhone, while the iPhone 11 will not get this feature. The Pro models are also rumoured to come with triple cameras on the rear while the iPhone 11 is expected to be upgraded to a dual-camera system. The phones are expected to sport OLED panels too.

Apple Tag Tracker

Besides the iPhone, Apple is also rumoured to be announcing the Apple Tag Tracker. Think of it as a Tile tracker, but made by Apple. The tracker can be attached to any personal item like a purse, or a bag and will be trackable through the Find my Device. The tracker can be put in lost mode as well and is expected to feature a removable battery. This seems like an odd new addition to Apple’s family of hardware, but there are some who would love for Apple to make more hardware, so this one’s probably for them.

Apple Watch Series 5

Apple is also expected to unveil the next version of the Apple Watch, the Series 5. New features are said to include native sleep tracking, a feature that has been a glaring omission from the world’s most popular smartwatch. Besides the sleep tracking, there’s not a lot of changes that are rumoured to be making their way to the new smartwatch from Apple.

iOS 13

Apple’s next iteration of its mobile operating system is expected to bring some major system-wide changes. The most exciting and anticipated feature will be the system-wide implementation of Dark Mode, allowing the OLED equipped iPhones to yield slightly better battery life. For those whose iPhones have LCD displays, even they will be able to enjoy the new visual aesthetic. Other changes include a revamped Photos app, better photo and video editing and a bunch more. Apple is expected to make the download for iOS 13 live tonight after the keynote

iPadOS

Apple’s name for the iPad version of iOS, iPadOS is finally getting an identity of its own. This also allows Apple to widen the segregation between the iPad and iPhone as device types. iPadOS is going to bring external device support, superior multi-tasking, new home screen layout and a feature called Sidecar to the iPad. There are a lot of features in iPadOS and you can have all of them on your compatible tablet tonight, once Apple makes the download links live. You can read our hands-on with the public beta here

The above are the major announcements expected tonight, but they aren’t the only ones. We also expect to hear about a new Apple TV and get more details on Apple Arcade and Apple TV+. The keynote is expected to begin at 10:30PM IST and can be viewed on a multitude of devices. For Mac users, you can watch the Livestream on Safari. Windows users can use Microsoft Edge for the same, but for the first time ever, Apple is also going to be livestreaming their event on YouTube.
