Nokia 9 PureView launch postponed to MWC 2019: Report

Highlight: Nokia 9 PureView will reportedly not be announced this month. Launch of the phone is said to have been pushed back till MWC 2019. The smartphone could cost Eur 749. HMD Global seems to be working on a mythical flagship device whose rumours keep surfacing time and again. The company’s Nokia 9 PureView smartphone has been reported about since 2017 but we have yet to hear any official announcement about the handset. Recently, a report surfaced claiming that the device might finally be announced this month but now, another report from Nokiamob.net, via @nokia_anew, suggests that its launch is again delayed. As per the report, the smartphone manufacturer has pushed the Nokia 9 announcement to MWC 2019, where it is said to launch running on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC.  As newer flagships by other smartphone makers are expected to be announced with the Snapdragon 855 SoC, Nokia could also price the Nokia 9 lower than the competition. If the report is to be believed, the Nokia 9 could be priced at Eur 749 (Rs 60,801 approx). The same pricing was iterated in a previous report, however, the device was earlier reported to launch in January. Additionally, it was stated that the phone might be made available for European markets first but there’s no confirmation regarding the same.  Leaks of the Nokia 9 PureView suggest that the smartphone might sport a Penta-camera setup on the back, along with an LED flash and optical sensor for quick focusing. All this is said to be arranged in a circular fashion within seven cutouts on the back panel. Many reports about the phone’s cases have also hinted at the same design and camera setup. However, an alleged promo video seemed to be most convincing of the Nokia 9 PureView’s design and it also shared the information about the hardware and other known elements. The video showcased the device with an in-display fingerprint sensor and with the Android One branding on the rear, which suggested that it could launch under Google’s Android One Program.  The Nokia 9 PureView is claimed to feature a 5.99-inch PureDisplay screen with 2K resolution and HDR10 compliance. It could feature an 18:9 aspect ratio with thin side bezels, thick top bezel and a chin. The phone is expected to ship with a metal rear panel with glass protection, suggesting Qi wireless charging support. Under the hood, the Nokia 9 PureView is expected to have a Snapdragon 845 SoC, coupled with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. Related Reads:  Nokia 9 launch postponed Nokia 9 may sport a 4150 mAH battery
