Realme 2 with 62-inch notched display and 4,230 mAh battery launched, price starts from Rs 8,990


Realme has launched the Realme 2 smartphone with a 6.2-inch display and a large AI-powered 4,230mAh battery for a price of Rs 8,990 for the 3GB RAM and 32GB storage variant. The the 4GB RAM and 64GB storage model is priced at Rs 10,990. 

This is the company’s first phone after it got separated from Oppo and second smartphone overall. The Diamond Black and Diamond Red colours of the Realme 2 will be exclusively available on Flipkart from September 4 noon while the Diamond Blue will be available by early October. HDFC Credit and Debit card holders can get a flat Rs 750 off. The company has also tied up with Reliance Jio and Jio customers can get Rs 4,200 instant benefits and 120GB data on purchase of the smartphone. 

Realme said that the brand will have an “India-first” approach and will comprise of 90 percent of local young talent and all the products will be Made in India. The company notes that while its strengthening its position in the Indian market, it will be entering the Middle East and other South East Asia markets soon. “Being a young smartphone brand in the most diverse and thriving market in the world, we have witnessed unprecedented love and demand since launching Realme 1. 

In just 30 days in the second quarter of 2018, we gained 4 percent online market share and were ranked 4 in the fastest growing online smartphone market,” Madhav Sheth, Chief Executive Officer, Realme India, said.   Realme 2 specifications  The Realme 2 features a 6.2-inch HD+ display with a notch and 19:9 aspect ratio. The smartphone’s screen-body ratio is 88.8 percent which the company claims is one of the highest in this price segment. 

Realme 2 features the second generation of the diamond-cutting design and is made up of a scratch resistant 12-layer nano-tech composite material. There is a dual-camera and a fingerprint sensor on the back. The volume rockers are on the left edge and the power button is on right. The phone comes with a Face ID unlock feature. The smartphone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 Octa-core processor and have Adreno 506 GPU. 

The Realme 2 has a built-in AI Gaming Acceleration which boosts the performance during gaming sessions. Both the variants have triple-slot, so customers can use two 4G SIM cards and one SD card. The Realme 2 packs a 4,230mAh battery with AI Power Master technology that smartly allocates resources for apps running in the foreground and in the background. Realme claims that the AI can reduces overall power consumption in between 5-11 percent without compromising the operations. For the camera duties, Realme has incorporated dual-cameras on the back. 

The Realme 2 comes with a 13MP main camera and a 2MP secondary lens with PDAF technology. The front shooter has an AI-powered 8MP lens that intelligently recognises 296 facial points and accordingly gives customised beauty effects, even in a group selfie. The Realme 2 comes with an enhanced user interface ColorOS 5.1 atop Android 8.1 OS. In addition to the AI Power Master, AI Gaming Acceleration and AI Shot (AI powered camera features), Realme 2 also has AI Board and a Smart Drive mode. If a user switches the Smart Drive Mode on, the phone will automatically detect that you are driving and reduce the app notifications. 

The company has also announced that it is now offering a 360-degree customer service system. The brand will be offering a new “Callme" Service, through which the service staff will reach at their doorsteps or preferred locations to collect the devices for repairing. Customers can also courier the devices to registered service centers free of cost. Meanwhile, Realme customers will also have access to almost 500 Oppo service centers across India with guaranteed 90 percent of repair cases resolved within an hour.
