The Apple Watch may soon get a Sleep Tracking feature

Apple may soon introduce Sleep Tracking in the Apple Watch. According to a report by 9to5Mac, the new features will not require any extra hardware. Further, the feature may be introduced next week alongside the new 2019 iPhones and the next gen Apple Watch. The report notes that the new features have been codenamed ‘burrito’ internally, and maybe called ‘Time in Bed’ tracking when launched.

The report notes that the Apple Watch will track the users’ quality of sleep using its various sensors. This includes movement, heart rate, and noise. Data regarding the users’ sleep will be made available on the Health app as well as a new Sleep app. It was further noted that some users prefer to charge the devices overnight, rather than wear them while sleeping. For such users, the Watch may give them a reminder to charge their devices beforehand.

It was noted that the new feature will automatically turn off the alarm if it notes that the user has woken up before the alarm. Further, it was noted that the alarm will also play on the Apple Watch, while the iPhone is used as a backup. It is also noted that the bedtime system will enable Do Not Disturb automatically when it detects that the user goes to bed. Further, there is also said to be a silent alarm that will only vibrate the Apple Watch.

Apple is expected to launch its new iPhones on September 10, and it’s possible that the Cupertino-based tech giant will announce the new feature during the event and maybe even launch the next generation of wearables. However, since Apple hasn’t yet confirmed anything, we have no other option than to wait till September 10 to find out for sure.
