Redmi 8A Pro shows up in official RF listing, expected to launch soon

Xiaomi recently unveiled its entry-level Redmi 8A smartphone in India and while we weren’t expecting it, it seems like there’s a Pro version of phone in the pipeline. The Redmi 8A Pro moniker has popped up on Xiaomi’s RF Exposure certification webpage, suggesting that the smartphone maker might be planning to soon announce the handset in the country. While there’s no information, official or rumoured, about the device’s specifications, we can expect some improvements as compared to the standard Redmi 8A. The handset might be equipped with a better processor but as a result, could be slightly more expensive or it might come with dual cameras. Since nothing is official yet, this is purely speculation from our side.

Redmi 8A specifications

As mentioned above, Redmi 8A was recently launched in India. Highlighted features of the handset include a bigger battery that supports fast charging and an “aura wave grip design” for the rear panel. The handset comes equipped with a 6.22-inch HD display that features a waterdrop notch design and it is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 SoC. Equipped with 2GB and 3GB RAM, the device sports 32GB of storage for both memory variants. There’s no fingerprint sensor on the device but it supports AI face unlock.

In terms of optics, the Redmi 8A packs a 12 MP rear camera with 1.4um pixels and f/1.8 aperture. There’s an 8 MP camera on the front. The handset gets a Type-C port and is backed by a 5000mAh battery that supports 18W fast charging. Redmi claims that the handset can be fully charged from 0 to 100 in under three hours. It is also P2i splash-proof, gets a 3.5mm audio jack, along with wireless FM radio support.

Redmi 8A price in India

The Redmi 8A is priced at Rs 6,499 for the 2GB RAM model and costs Rs 6,999 for the 3GB RAM variant. The handset will go on sale on September 29 via Flipkart as a part of the Big Billion Days Sale, and mi.com. It was announced in Midnight Black, Ocean Blue and Sunset Red colour variants.
