Amid a lot of reports about the coveted 64MP camera sensor on a Redmi device, renders of a phone with a quad-camera setup have surfaced online. Additionally, two Redmi handsets have appeared on 3C authority database in China and one of them carries support for 18W fast charging. Reports pouring in from multiple quarters on the internet are claiming that the devices in question belong to the Redmi Note 8 Series, which is confirmed to be in the developing phase. The names of these phones, however, are known yet.
Shown below is the render of the Redmi smartphone, which is alleged to be the Redmi Note 8. As we can see, there is a quad camera setup with an LED flash on the back. The camera module wears a similar design as sported by the recently-launched Samsung Galaxy Note10+. The three camera sensors are arranged vertically and the fourth sensor, which could be a Time of Flight (ToF) sensor, on the right. It could also be the first smartphone to feature the gaming centric MediaTek Helio G90T chipset.
Moreover, Redmi General Manager Lu Weibing has shared a video on Chinese social media website Weibo to confirm that the mass production of a device with a quad camera setup has already started. The video shows the arrangement of four camera sensors, and it is in line with the render of the phone we just talked about. Interestingly, the phone does not show any pop-up camera module hinting at a waterdrop notch. Also, there is no fingerprint scanner on the backside, suggesting an in-display fingerprint sensor.
It is already official that Realme and Redmi are working on phones that will come with a 64MP camera sensor. Both companies have showcased their camera tech at events held in India and China respectively as well as announced their upcoming phones, the Realme 5 Series and the Redmi Note 8 Series. It was previously thought that these phones will have 64MP sensor, however, that does not seem to be in Realme 5’s case. Redmi, on the other hand, may include the coveted camera on the Redmi Note 8. We still don’t know that for sure.
Now coming back to the two phones that have been spotted on the 3C website. As seen in the image above, an unknown Xiaomi phone with variants M1908C3IE and M1908C3IC variants have got the 3C certification. The listing further reveals that the phone may come equipped with MDY-09-EK charger that supports only 5V/2V (10W) charging. The other phone, with M1906G7E and M1906G7T variants, is said to be shipped with with MDY-10-EC charger that supports up to 18W rapid charging. It is not confirmed that these belong to the Redmi Note 8 Series, and we will have to wait longer to get the company’s confirmation on the same.
