Dota Underlords is Valves take on Auto Chess, free Open Beta releases next week on Steam, Android and iOS

Valve has announced a new game called Dota Underlords, which is based on the Auto Chess mod for Dota 2. It’s a new standalone title that will be available this week for Dota 2 Battle Pass owners under extended testing and will go in free beta for all, starting next week. The game is available for players on Windows, Mac, Linux, Android and iOS. As mentioned, the new title is inspired from the Auto Chess mod for Dota 2 and requires players to tactfully devise a strategy in order to win a game. One will face off seven other players and build, upgrade and combine their crew to win a game.

Valve’s blog on the announcement reads, “Dota Underlords is a new stand-alone game that pits you against seven opponents in a battle of wits that will have you building, combining, and levelling-up a crew in a battle of dominance for the city of White Spire. In this game, victory is determined not by twitch reflexes, but by superior tactics.” Players with Dota 2 Battle Pass who join the game will be stress testing the servers to help prepare for the Open Beta launch. The currently available preview version will enable a player to practice offline as well against bots, whose difficulty ranges from easy to hardcore. Gamers can also party up to play together against bots or players.

As for the title’s Open Beta, there will be ranked matchmaking and cross-play across all devices. This means that one will be able to play on one platform and pick up on another without worrying about their rank and progression as it will be synced across all devices. Dota 2 geeks out there might know that the new Underlords title is a standalone spinoff of Auto Chess Mod for Dota 2, which is a sequel to Dota, which started off as a mod for Blizzard’s Warcraft 3.
