Oppo Reno render leaksters penalized as phones periscopic camera tech leaks, alleged Lite variant lists on TENAA

Highlights: Oppo sues source who leaked Reno renders. The phone’s periscopic camera tech leaked in marketing banner. A ‘Lite’ variant of the phone has also been spotted on TENAA. Oppo Reno is one of most talked about phones lately, and among several reasons, the design of the pop camera has gained the phone its popularity. Oppo, however, has not taken this recognition in a positive way and has reportedly sued those who have leaked the renders of the phone. According to a report, the company wanted to keep the design of the phone under covers till the launch. An internal memo from Oppo detailing the sanctions that should be carried out against those who were involved in the leak was shared on the internet. According to the memo, the original leakster will have to pay a fine of CNY 500,000 (approx 51 lakh). A full report about the whole incident as well as a commitment of not sharing more details about the phone have also been sought. Moreover, there is a request of taking legal actions against the dealers and clerk of the store that allegedly shared the info. While the Chinese company was busy hunting for the render leakster, the phone’s periscopic camera has been confirmed in marketing banner. An image was leaked which showed a banner hanging from the ceiling of what looks like a shop or an office. The image shows a phone with similar design that we have already seen previously. There is no notch and no punch hole, which suggests that it has a pop-up selfie camera. The phone are surrounded by a green ring which looks a lot like the "O" in the Oppo branding. In the second leak of the day, a Lite variant of the phone was spotted on TENAA. The listing shows that the phone with model number PCAM10 and PCAT10. The phone is seen with two cameras as well as a fingerprint sensor on the back. The cameras are seen to have a 16Mp sensor and a 2MP sensor. This phone is seen to have 4/6GB of RAM and 128GB storage, with an option to expand it via a microSD slot. The phone features a 6.5-inch LCD panel with FHD+ resolution. This phone is in addition to various versions, including a Standard Edition, a 5G variant and a rumoured Lamborghini Edition. Oppo‘s VP, Brian Shen, has already confirmed that the Oppo Reno will be made available in two variants. One of these models will be equipped with a copper tube and support liquid cooling, which is likely to be the one with Snapdragon 855. While the other version is said to use “heat-conducting gel and graphite sheet” for heat dissipation. The latter model is speculated to launch with Snapdragon 710 SoC under the hood. The Snapdragon 855 powered version Oppo Reno is also confirmed to sport 10x zoom capabilities and pack a 4065mAh battery.
