Google Pixel 3a spotted on Google Store

The existence of the Google Pixel 3a is once again corroborated by a new leak, this time coming from Google itself. The Google Pixel 3a has appeared as a link on Google’s own Play Store. The link appeared under the phones section of the Google Store.

There had been rumours of Google releasing a pair of mid-range smartphones, namely the Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL and now those rumours are gaining significant grounds. As noted by Android Police, clicking on the ‘Phone’ drop-down menu on store.google.com would show a link to the new Google Pixel 3a. There are also options for ‘Google Pixel 3a Case’ and ‘Compare Phones’. The case link leads users to a page called ‘pixel_3a_case_fabric’. It is safe to assume that the new phones will come with the company’s fabric cases.

Besides the names appearing on Google’s own Play Store, the phones were also added to Play Developer Console’s Device Catalog, which more-or-less confirms their existence. XDA Developers note that two new devices that have been added to the Google Play Developer Console’s Device Catalog are called the ‘sargo’ and ‘bonito’. The sargo is a device with a screen resolution of 1080x2220, hinting at a display aspect ratio of 18.5:9. The bonito has a resolution of 1080x2160 for an aspect ratio of 18:9. Both devices are tipped to offer 4GB of RAM and run Android 9 Pie. While the processor is still not yet known, the smaller device is expected to be powered by a Snapdragon 670 SoC, while the larger device may feature a Snapdragon 710 SoC. XDA’s report also noted that the presence of the system feature com.google.hardware.camera.easel_2018 suggests that both devices may come with the Pixel Visual Core.
