Reliance Jio testing Triple Play plan consolidating Jio GigaFiber, TV and other services into one: Report

Highlights: Jio is testing a “Triple Play” plan. For now, the plan is reportedly available for its employees only. The company is currently doing area Ready for Sale (RFS). The telecom sector underwent an overhaul when Reliance Jio entered the market with its 4G services at highly competitive prices. It now seems that the Mukesh Ambani-led company is looking to replicate the same with its Reliance Jio GigaFiber FTTH service soon. TelecomTalk reports that the firm is testing a “Triple Play” plan under which users will be offered internet, voice calls, Jio TV subscription and access to Jio apps all with a single plan. Not much is known about the Triple Play plan as of now but it was spotted on the company’s website inside the login of Jio GigaFiber account. The price of the plan is also not known yet. Reportedly, the GigaFiber Triple Plan will offer 100GB of high-speed data (with a speed of up to 100 Mbps), unlimited voice calling, access to Jio’s portfolio of apps, and Jio Home TV subscription. The mention of the Jio Home TV subscription confirms that the company’s IPTV service will be termed Jio Home TV. The plan will come with a 28-day validity. According to the Jio Fiber website, there is a basic Rs 500 plan which gives users 50MBPS speed with a data limit of 300GB for days. The Rs 999 plan offers 100MBPS speed and 600MB data for 30 days. Those who have heavy internet consumption can opt form Rs 1,500 plan with 150MBPS speed and 900GB data limit for a 30-day validity.    Jio has been testing its FTTH services in cities like Mumbai and Delhi, and could commercially launch its services across India soon. Earlier this year, a report claimed that the launch has been delayed and the company is doing area Ready for Sale (RFS) for its GigaFiber service. Area RFS basically means that Jio officials are reaching out to people to tell them about the services and offering deployment. Reportedly, the company is first targeting the the Multiple Dwelling Unit (MDU) like the high-rising societies and then, they will shift their focus on the Single Dwelling Unit(SDU) such as private homes.
