Nokia’s strong presence in the feature phone market is a known fact. At the company’s launch event on the sidelines of MWC 2019 in Barcelona, Nokia claimed it is the global leader in feature phones in both volume and value. Even before Nokia made a big comeback under the stewardship of HMD Global, Nokia kept manufacturing feature phones, but more recently, Nokia’s penchant of modernising classic Nokia phones made it stand out in the feature phone segment. Nokia also made a foray into the entry-level smartphone segment with the Android Go-powered Nokia 1. At its event in MWC 2019, Nokia announced two phones in the feature phone and the entry-level segment — The Nokia 210 and the Nokia 1 Plus. Nokia 210 specs and price Nokia 210 is an internet-enabled feature phone. It’s similar to the JioPhone 2 and has its own app store. It’s a tiny phone with a much smaller footprint as compared to a smartphone, and doesn’t have a touchscreen. The phone has a 2.4-inch QVGA display and comes with its own app store. Nokia said the app store will have the popular social media apps and also the iconic Snake game. The phone comes with the Opera Mini browser built-in. The phone is powered by a 1020mAh battery and will retail for $35 (roughly Rs 2486) in the US. It comes in three colours — Steel white, black and red. Nokia 1 Plus specs and price The Nokia 1 Plus is the follow-up to the two Android-Go enabled smartphones that the company announced last year. The company claimed it sold the most number of Android Go phones in 2018 and the Nokia 1 Plus (the name might be confusing to some) is a more refined take on the entry-level segment. The Nokia 1 Plus comes with a nano-textured back that feels like a throwback to old Nokia phones. It runs on Android 9 Pie (Go Edition) that Google claims has been optimised to launch apps 15 percent faster. The phone sports a 5.45-inch HD+ display and is powered by a MediaTek MT6739WW SoC coupled with 1GB RAM. You get two storage variants to choose from — 8GB and 16GB and will be available in three colours — Red, Blue, and Black. On the front, the Nokia 1 Plus has a 5MP fixed-focus front camera while on the back, there’s a 8MP shooter. The Nokia 1 Plus is retail for a global average price of $99 (roughly Rs 7000).
