Fortnite v701 update brings Infinity Blade sword, new Limited Time Mode and more

Season 7 for Fortnite is underway and the developer, Epic Games, just revealed the patch notes for v7.01 of the game. As expected, the new update adds a new sword to the game as well as a bunch of other features including bug fixes to Save The World mode as well as Battle Royale. It also brings changes to the new Creative Mode. The new sword added to the game is the Infinity Blade from Epic Games’ other game series of the same name. The patch notes describe it as a “Mythic melee weapon that deals big damage and destroys structures.” The weapon will be located on Polar Peak, and only one instance of the weapon will appear per match. Once a player picks up the weapon, he/she will drop all other inventory items aside from building materials. And if the wielder of the Infinity Blade picks up any item (besides building materials), the sword will be dropped. Primary fire delivers a sword slash that deals 75 damage to players and can destroy structures in a single blow. Alternate fire lets players leap great distances, destroying objects along their path. When the player lands, deal damage to nearby enemies.  The player who wields the Infinity Blade gets an increased pool of max Heath and Shield (200 Health and 200 Shield). Further, they will also regenerate health ay 1HP/second up to their maximum health. On top of this, eliminating a player will grant 50HP instantly. The first player to pull the Infinity Blade from the pedestal gets full health and shields. The second weapon added to Fortnite is the Ralphie’s revenge. An accurate, but slow firing weapon that rewards headshots. However, this weapon is limited to the Save the World game mode and not Battle Royale.  The v7.01 update also brings a limited time mode called ‘Close Encounters’. In this mode, the only weapons available are Shotgun variants. Players will also be able to pick up jetpacks. Further, the Storm moves in faster than in normal at mid to late games and a typical match length is expected to be around 15 minutes.  For the complete list of changes, check out the entire patch notes here.
