The world premiere of Netflix’s Mowgli: Legend of The Jungle, an upcoming live-action version of Rudyard Kipling’s Jungle Book, will be held in India on November 25. The event will see cast members Christian Bale (Bagheera), Andy Serkis (Baloo) and Freida Pinto (Messua), walk the red carpet in Mumbai to promote the film, the story of which is deeply rooted in Indian culture. Netflix’s Mowgli will not be the same as Disney’s light-hearted version of the story, but instead, will deal with more darker themes of abandonment and fear. The film has been directed by Andy Serkis, who lends his years of experience working with mo-cap and animation, to bring Rudyard Kipling’s classic work to life. From what we’ve heard and seen in trailers and behind-the-scenes videos of the film, Netflix’s Mowgli will be way more grittier than any previous renditions of the story. Apart from Christian Bale, who now seems to be gearing up for an Academy Awards for work in Vice, Netflix’s Mowgli also casts Benedict Cumberbatch as Shere Khan, Tom Hollander as Tabaqui, Cate Blanchett as the voice of Kaa, Naomie Harris as Nisha, Peter Mullan as Akela, Louis Ashbourne Serkis as Bhoot and Rohan Chand (from Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle 2017) as Mowgli. Netflix users worldwide can stream Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle starting December 7, 2018. You can also watch the trailer for the movie below. We will get you all the action from the premiere event in Mumbai on November 25 so stay tuned to Digit.in for the same.
