Samsung Galaxy A8s press renders spotted with Infinity-O type display, punchhole camera

Earlier this year, Samsung announced that it has changed its strategy to capture the lion's share in India's mid-range smartphone market and since then, it has been bullish when it comes to offering flagship features in the smartphones that belong in the Rs 30,000-Rs 40,000 segment. On similar lines, the South Korean tech company is reportedly set to launch another smartphone, the Galaxy A8s, with a new Infinity-O type display that will have a punchhole front camera. The press renders also show that there are three cameras on the back. The three lenses are vertically aligned like they do in the Galaxy A7 (2018) - on the top left of the back panel. There is a small LED flash under the camera module and an elliptical fingerprint sensor in the middle. The specifications of the front and the back cameras are currently unknown but it is assumed that the Galaxy A8s will get the same camera configuration as the Galaxy A7 (2018). These images are renders and the final product may vary, but an Infinity-O display may prove to be a good alternative to the notch and camera slider. The Infinity-O type display is one of the four displays that Samsung showcased at its annual developers conference recently. This is the edge-to-edge type display with no notch or noticeable chin but a punch hole in the top left corner which houses the front camera. Since the camera is not under the display, it cannot be avoided or obscured (like we can do with notch). Not a feast to the eyes, but this could be a better option to get the maximum out of an edge-to-edge display. Unless Samsung pulls off a trick to hide it, the cutout will be a hindrance when u play a video or play a game. Will Samsung put notches on its future phones? As mentioned above, Samsung showcased four types of notches/displays at its developers conference. First is the “Infinity U” type notch which looks identical to the one that the Essential Phone had. It’s a small half oval that cuts down into the top middle of the display. The second is the “Infinity V” type notch which is quite similar to Infinity U type but with four edges instead of a curved half-oval. The third is the “Infinity O” type in which there is a full circular cutout in the display that houses the camera. The fourth is the “New Infinity” display which looks to have a completely edge-to-edge design. Since the design is still not feasible, Samsung could be exploring the idea of a slider that would house the selfie camera and other components.
