Opera has launched its new browser Opera Touch browser for iPhones. The company says that the browser is meant to make one-handed navigation around the web easier and has been specially tailored for the “new iPhone line. Key elements that are used for browsing like navigation, new tabs and more can be found under the hamburg menu on the bottom and for a faster search experience, the new browser boots up directly in search mode.
The new browser was already available on Android since April and is now available to download on iOS. “We are releasing Opera Touch just in time with Apple’s new iPhone XS, XS Max and XR because we believe that our browser is the perfect one to make these new devices really shine,” says Maciej Kocemba, Opera Touch Product Manager. “Today’s new phones have big, beautiful displays, but conventional browsers are yet to adapt to this development. Our product is aimed at people who want to fully appreciate their iPhones.” The browser comes with a “Flow” feature, using which one can continue browsing the same websites on their Opera browser on PC by scanning a QR Code.
The feature is somewhat similar to Microsoft's “Continue on PC” option. Additionally, Flow is said to be end-to-end encrypted and it can be used on multiple devices as well. One can use the feature to not only continue web browsing on other devices but also send images, notes, links and videos.
Opera Touch is also said to adapt to a user’s browsing habits over time and display the top sites automatically on its home screen. There is always the looming concern of data snooping and websites tracking users across sites. To address this concern, the Opera Touch comes with a built-in ad blocker with crypto jacking protection.
