Huawei Mate 20 Pro leaks in full ahead of launch

Huawei’s upcoming flagship, the Huawei Mate 20 Pro which is slated to be launched on the 16th of October in London, has been leaked in full thanks to a German website. According to WinFuture.de, all the specifications of the phone are now available, including some high-resolution images of the phone. For starters, the phone will sport the Leica branded triple camera setup we saw in the Huawei P20 Pro. The 40 megapixels, 20 megapixel and 8-megapixel sensors will be arranged in a square dead centre of the phone’s back instead of being neatly lined up on the side. On the front is a 6.39-inch OLED panel with a resolution of 3120 x 1440. The display has a notch on top, giving the phone an overall aspect ratio of 19.5:9. The notch is said to house a 24-megapixel front-facing camera, along with an IR laser system to facilitate face unlock, a system somewhat similar to the iPhone X. The report also alleges that the Mate 20 Pro will feature an in-display fingerprint sensor and wireless charging. What’s interesting is that it is alleged that the Huawei Mate 20 Pro will be capable of doubling up as a wireless charging pad. There aren’t any confirmed details around the wireless charging standard, but the report only says that you should be able to wireless charge devices that are capable of wireless charging, although this just seems like a rather inefficient system given that wireless charging is still much slower than wired charging. Finally, the report says that the Huawei Mate 20 Pro will sport the new Kirin 980 chipset and will come in either 6GB or 8GB RAM variants. Storage will vary between 128,256 and 512GB depending on the market they are released in. Interestingly, there will allegedly not be a microSD card slot on the smartphone, but will instead feature a proprietary memory card format that is in the shape of a nano SIM. The new proprietary cards will be available in storage up to 256GB. Huawei is expected to reveal the Huawei Mate 20 Pro and the Mate 20 on the 16th of October at an event in London.
