Realme recently launched its second smartphone after separating from parent company Oppo. The company claims that its debut smartphone, the Realme 2, as an independent brand has sold over 3.7 lakh units in the first month of being on sale. The Realme 2 has followed a flash sale model, originally popularized by Xiaomi for the sale of its Mi3 smartphone. The Realme 2 went on sale exclusively on Flipkart first on September 4 followed by a second sale on September 11. Between the two sales, Realme says they have managed to sell over 3.7 lakh units of the smartphone. The numbers may not be all that high, when compared to the number of units, moved by Xiaomi in such sales, but even so, these are very impressive numbers for a smartphone brand still in its infancy. After separating from Oppo, Realme has been taking a fresh approach to its smartphones. The original Realme featured a MediaTek processor and a fairly standard set of specifications and features, but the second-generation smartphone upped the game with a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset. The Realme 2 (Review) features a 6.2-inch HD+ display along with a notch up top. It is powered by the Snapdragon 450, a quad-core processor paired with either 3 or 4GB of RAM depending on the variant you buy. Additionally, the storage options include a 32GB variant and a 64GB variant. In terms, of imaging, the smartphone features a 13+2 Megapixel dual camera unit on the back and an 8-megapixel shooter on the front. Probably the most notable addition to the feature set is a fingerprint sensor, which was missing from the original Realme. The phone runs on Android 8.1 Oreo and comes with a 4230mAh battery, but does not support fast charging. The Realme 2 is priced at Rs 8,990 for the base variant with 3GB RAM while the 4GB RAM variant is priced at Rs 10,990.
