OnePlus 6T 360-degree video leaks, reveals complete design

It seems more than just a water drop of hints around the OnePlus 6T are leaking in the days leading up to its alleged October 17 launch. Yesterday, a video released by MySmartPrice on YouTube shows the complete design of the OnePlus 6T in all its 6-inch glory. The video is titled “OnePlus6T 360° render video” and contains watermarks of OnLeaks and MySmartPrice. While the video doesn’t reveal any design information we don’t already know, it does confirm what we already know about the upcoming OnePlus flagship. It confirms the presence of a dual camera setup that’s similar to the one on the current flagship, the OnePlus 6. It also confirms the lack of a fingerprint scanner beneath the primary camera setup. This is because the OnePlus 6T is said to feature an in-display fingerprint scanner. In fact, the company itself confirmed the arrival of this feature.

The video also shows the absence of a 3.5mm audio jack on the phone’s body, a detail also confirmed by OnePlus. The company has already announced a replacement for the regular OnePlus earphones: OnePlus Type C Bullets. Currently priced at Rs 1,490, they will launch alongside the new OnePlus 6T. With the new flagship smartphone and the Type C Bullets, OnePlus will finally be doing away with the 3.5mm audio jack, something the company decided to retain last year because apparently nearly 80 percent of its users still used in-jack headphones. Clearly a lot can change then, in just one short year.

The video also confirms the thinning of the display notch, which made its first appearance on the OnePlus 6. On the upcoming model, the notch seems to resemble a tiny droplet of water (hence the name ‘waterdrop notch’), leaving the user with more screen space. Inside the notch, we see a tiny earpiece and a single front camera. It’s safe to assume the company’s slipped in a bunch of sensors in there too.

RIP OnePlus Audio Jack The OnePlus 6T is expected to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset, have 8GB of RAM, and offer up to 256GB of storage (all unchanged from the current OnePlus 6). As software, the smartphone is expected to run OxygenOS based on Android 9 Pie. The upcoming OnePlus flagship is expected to launch on October 17. OnePlus has already confirmed that the OnePlus 6T will be an Amazon.in exclusive in India.
