Huawei smartphone spotted on TENAA with leather back, Waterdrop notch

Huawei has been the front runner when it comes to designing and manufacturing smartphones with premium looking back panels. The company was the first to bring the designer gradient back in its P20 Pro smartphone. As per a new development, the company is again looking to set the trend in the smartphone industry by reportedly offering a leather rear panel. Huawei will not be the first company to do so because we have already seen such leather-cladded smartphones before.

A Huawei-branded phone has been spotted on TENAA sporting a “Waterdrop” notch in Black and White colours. The back of both the handsets has leather stitched to it and we could see  “AI Camera” and “Huawei” branding on it. The panel has a centrally-aligned fingerprint sensor and a dual-camera system with an LED flash. Motorola and LG have previously offered leather backs on their phones. At IFA in Berlin this year, Huawei launched four new colour variants of the P20 Pro smartphone.

Two of the variants sport the regular gradient colour combination, while the other two come with leather stitched to their back. It is being offered in two colours: Black and Tan, and are reportedly made of calfskin. The leather back may arise as an option to give smartphones a distinct feel and look, and at the same time provide better protection than the glass back. When it comes to the notch on this phone, the only handset from the Chinese brand to sport a “Waterdrop” notch is the Honor 8X Max. The device was recently launched in China sporting a massive 7.12-inch Full HD+ TFT IPS display with 19.5:9 aspect ratio.

The smartphone is powered by an Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 SoC and is offered with 4GB RAM. Buyers can choose between two storage options: 64GB and 128GB. The smartphone runs Android 8.1 Oreo with EMUI 8.2.0 skin on top, features a rear dual-camera setup and houses a 5,000mAh battery. Cover and intext image courtesy: Source 1, Source 2
