Poco, a new sub-brand of Xiaomi, will launch its first smartphone, the Pocophone F1 in India on August 22. It’s already confirmed that the device will be powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC and it was previously spotted on Geekbench with 6GB RAM. Ahead of the India launch of the phone, an 8GB variant of the device has also popped up on the same benchmarking website and this is the first appearance of a higher RAM model of the smartphone.
The listing reveals 2451 and 8998 as the single-core and multi-core test results of the alleged Pocophone F1, which are in line with other Snapdragon 845 powered devices like the Asus Zenfone 5Z, OnePlus 6 and others. It’s already confirmed that the Poco F1 will be launched as a Flipkart exclusive smartphone in India.
The company has also teased a Limited edition of the device, which could be the one to feature 8GB RAM. The listing again tips that the device runs on Android 8.1 Oreo, however, an earlier leaked video of the device suggests that it comes with MIUI on top.
The company itself has been revealing the features of the device in steps and as per the company’s Twitter page, the upcoming smartphone will feature a notch on top of the display and come with 3D face unlock, which is supposed to work in low-light conditions. As mentioned earlier, the phone will be powered by Snapdragon 845 SoC and for better heat dissipation, it will feature “LiquidCool Technology”. The company also recently shared some camera samples from the Poco F1, giving a look at the work of its “Flagship AI Dual Cameras”. Jai Mani, Head of Product at Pocophone has also posted some images, along with their EXIF data.
The data reveals that the device’s main camera is equipped with a f/1.9 aperture lens with a field of view roughly between 20-24mm depending upon the sensor used. Additionally, both daytime and in low-light images shot using the Poco F1 seem fairly decent but the colours are oversaturated. This is probably the AI-based camera algorithms at work. We will surely test the device’s camera ourselves when it comes in for review to see how it actually performs.
The Pocophone F1 is confirmed to feature a headphone jack. However, it is rumoured to feature 64GB of internal storage and now, there might be a 128GB internal storage variant as well. The smartphone could feature a fingerprint sensor on the rear and pack a 4000mAh battery with a USB Type-C port.
