It was just last week when Xiaomi brought its second Android One device, the Mi A2, to India. Being a smartphone under Google’s Android One programme, it is destined to receive monthly security updates as well as at least two major software upgrades. In a good news to those who already own the Mi A2 (Review), the company has started to roll out the latest August Android security update to the device which, according to the changelog, improves the security of the device and fixes some bugs on it. The Mi A2 will be one of the first phones to receive the Android Pie update when it's rolled out later this year. “Fortify your Android One phone with the August 2018 security update from Google, which improves security and fixes bugs. This update improves the stability of your device and optimises its performance,” the changelog read. The update comes in a 380 MB package. Xiaomi launched the 4GB RAM + 64GB storage variant of the Mi A2 at a price of Rs 16,999. At the event, Xiaomi's India Managing Director, Manu Kumar Jain, announced that the company will soon launch a 6GB RAM + 128GB storage variant in India. The Xiaomi Mi A2 will go on sale on Amazon.in, Mi.com, Mi Home and Mi Preferred Partner Stores on August 16. The Mi A2 also comes bundled with offers for Reliance Jio customers. Jio users can get up to 4.5TB additional data from Reliance Jio and up to Rs 2,200 instant cashback. Xiaomi Mi A2 Specifications The Xiaomi Mi A2 is available in four colours in India- Gold, Lake Blue and Black and Rose Gold. It sports a 5.99-inch Full HD+ display with an aspect ratio of 18:9. The Mi A2 is powered by an Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset clocked at 2.2GHz. There is a fingerprint sensor and a vertically stacked dual-camera setup located on the back. The dual-camera system on the Mi A2 features a primary 12MP sensor having 1.25 micron pixels and a secondary 20MP Sony IMX376 sensor for portrait photography. Both the lenses have f/1.75 aperture. There is a 20MP front shooter with Xiaomi's Super Pixel Technology.
