Samsung Galaxy Note 9 goes official in India with Exynos 9810 SoC: Price, availability, specs, features and more


Samsung has officially announced its latest Galaxy Note 9 smartphone in India at an event today. Pre-orders of the smartphone were already underway and its Indian pricing was known as well. Only the device’s availability was yet to be revealed and Samsung announced that it will be up for sale starting August 24 in India. Alongside the smartphone, the company has also launched its latest Samsung Galaxy Watch in India, which features LTE connectivity, 'advanced' wellness features and fitness tracking, however, there is no update yet on its Indian price or availability. 

Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Price The Galaxy Note 9 comes in three colours: Midnight Black, Ocean Blue and Metallic Copper. There are two variants of the device, one with 128GB of storage and another with 512GB of storage, which are priced at Rs 67,900 and Rs 84,900 respectively. The Metallic Copper colour variant is available with only 128GB of storage, while the other colour variants are available in both 128GB and 512GB versions. The Lavender Purple colour variant of the device is slated to arrive soon. ​ Launch offers on Samsung Galaxy Note 9 During pre-bookings, Samsung was offering the Samsung Gear Sport smartwatch for Rs 4,999 with the Galaxy Note 9. 

The Gear Sport currently retails at Rs 22,990 in India. Additionally, buyers will get to avail Rs 6,000 cashback if the device is purchased via Paytm Mall. A Rs 6,000 cashback is also available for HDFC Bank credit or debit cards customers and for those who use HDFC Consumer Durable loans (CD Loans) to purchase the device. There is also a ‘Samsung Upgrade Program’, which will enable consumers to avail an upgrade bonus of Rs 6,000 in exchange for their old devices for the Galaxy Note 9. Do note that the upgrade bonus is added to the exchange value. 

The Galaxy Note 9 will also be available for purchase via the Airtel Online Store at a downpayment of just Rs 7,900. This will be bundled with instant financing and affordable EMIs. The rest of the cost of the phone will be recovered through a built-in postpaid plan for Rs 2,999 per month for 24 months. However, Airtel says it will start delivering the Note 9 to customers in India starting August 22, which is two days earlier than the global sale date of August 24. Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Specs and Features  

The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is powered by a 10nm 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 Octa-core processor. It sports a 6.4-inch Quad HD+ Super AMOLED display. The phone comes in two variants, one with 6GB RAM/128GB storage and another with 8GB RAM/512GB of internal storage. Both the variants support up to 512GB of MicroSD card. 

It runs on Android Oreo 8.1 and is backed by a 4000mAh battery, which supports fast wireless and wired charging. In terms of the optics, the Galaxy Note 9 comes equipped with a dual-camera setup with Dual OIS on the rear. It sports a 12MP wide-angle sensor with variable F1.5/F2.4 aperture and a 12MP telephoto lens with an F2.4 aperture. On the front is an 8MP sensor with F1.7 aperture. This year, the upgraded S-Pen stylus supports Bluetooth Low-Energy (BLE) and enables users to use it as a remote to take selfies, group pictures, present slides, pause and play music, and more.

Samsung Galaxy Watch Specs and Features The Galaxy Watch features an AMOLED screen and it can track heart rate, and display breathing exercises to help users stay focused and healthy. In addition, the Galaxy Watch’s sleep tracking is said to monitors all levels of sleep, including REM cycles and provide accurate data. Samsung claims that the Galaxy Watch can automatically track six of the most popular exercises - walking, running, cycling, elliptical, training, rowing, and dynamic workouts - and it features 21 new indoor exercises from a selection of 39 activities. 

The watch comes in Samsung’s signature rotating bezel and in three colours of Silver, Midnight Black and Rose Gold. The smartwatch has a certified military-level durability with Corning Gorilla Glass DX+ and 5 ATM water resistance, meaning that one need not take it off while swimming or taking a shower.  It comes in a 46mm version in Silver, as well as a 42mm option in Midnight Black and Rose Gold.
