The company has priced the device at Rs 2,999 and has again announced that from August 15, Facebook, YouTube and Google Maps will be available for the JioPhone and we can expect it to be available for the JioPhone 2 as well. JioPhone 2 features a full QWERTY keyboard layout with a four-way navigation key and supports horizontal viewing. The JioPhone 2 sports a 2.4-inch QVGA display, supports dual-SIM and runs on KaiOS. It comes with 512MB RAM, coupled with 4GB of internal storage that can be further expanded up to 128GB using a microSD card. Same as the JioPhone, the JioPhone 2 also runs on KAI OS and supports VoLTE, however, it supports VoWiFi and evolved Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Service (eMBMS) as well. It comes with connectivity options like NFC, Wi-Fi connectivity, Bluetooth Low Energy and will have an FM Radio built-in. Reliance Jio has also announced that the number of JioPhone users in India will soon touch the 100 million mark. At the AGM, Jio didn’t reveal which processor the JioPhone 2 runs on, but seeing as there are very few hardware changes in comparison with to predecessor, it could be powered by the Spreadtrum SP9820A or the Qualcomm 205 Mobile Platform (MSM8905). The JioPhone 2 is equipped with a 2MP rear camera and on the front, it comes with a VGA sensor. The handset is backed by a 2000mAh battery. Those who don’t want to buy the new JioPhone 2 can still go for the JioPhone, which is being sold under the Monsoon Hungama Offer. Under the offer, one can exchange their existing feature phone for a JioPhone by exchanging it with an old feature phone and paying an additional sum of Rs 501. The amount of Rs 501 will be refunded after three years. Jio is also bundling a special recharge plan priced for Rs 594 and as it is a combined offer, users who purchase the JioPhone under the Monsoon Hungama offer will need to perform the recharge.
