Apple will launch three iPhones Apple Watch and iPads to have larger displays: Report

We have already heard a lot about the upcoming iPhones that Apple is expected to launch in September this year. The information include three iPhones with an iPhone X-like design, two phones with OLED panel and an affordable one with a LCD display.

A Bloomberg report has somewhat cemented the claims that have been made till now. Also, the report talks about iPads, Apple Watch and AirPower wireless charger that could launch alongside the iPhones.    Bloomberg talked to people with information about the iPhones’ designs and reports that Apple plans to launch three new phones with the same edge-to-edge screen design of last year’s flagship.

The iPhones are expected to boast a wider range of prices, features and sizes to increase their appeal. On names of this year’s iPhones, the sources told the news platform that some inside the company are labeling the launch as an "S year," a designation that the company has given to to new handsets that retain the previous year’s design but add new features.

The company is apparently planning more significant changes for next year's iPhone. Although the iPhone X wasn’t as successful as it was thought to be, it still helped Apple gain share in the smartphone market.

Apple seems to have learnt from this and is seen adjusting its strategy. “Rather than luring millions of new iPhone users, Apple’s goal these days is to steadily raise average prices, while expanding the total number of active devices to support sales of accessories and digital services like streaming music and video,” the report pointed out. Apple anaylst Ming Chi-Kuo has shared this table predicting details about this year's iPhones. People familiar with the matter said that there will be an iPhone that will feature a 6.5-inch OLED display diagonally.

This phone is being referred to as D33 internally and will apparently be the largest iPhone by far. It is said to have a glass back with stainless steel edges and dual cameras on the back. On the larger variant, customers will be able to view content side-by-side in apps like Mail and Calendar. The other iPhone, dubbed D32, with OLED display is reported to have a 5.8-inch screen. The third iPhone will replace the iPhone 8. Codenamed N84, it should look like last year’s the iPhone X, but it includes a larger 6.1-inch LCD screen, come in multiple colours, and sport aluminum edges instead of the the stainless steel casing.

Hon Hai Precision Industry Co. has reportedly assembled the two high-end OLED iPhones. The LCD phone will be split primarily between Hon Hai and Pegatron Corp., the report said. Hon Hai began assembling the OLED devices in July and started on the LCD phones this month. Citing the production schedule, famous Apple analyst Ming Chi-Kuo says that the 6.1-inch iPhone will ship “slightly later” than the two OLED models. Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. is the sole supplier of the main processor for the new iPhones. All the three iPhones are expected to have the gesture-based control system that was introduced last year to replace the iconic home button. All the phones will feature Face ID.
Apple is planning dual-SIM card slots for the two larger phones for some regions. Kuo also said there will be no Apple Pencil support for the iPhones this year. When it comes to other hardware that are expected to launch alongside the iPhones, Apple is expected to unveil an updated AirPods, an AirPower wireless charger mat, a new Apple Watch, and revamped iPad Pro tablet line-up for this year. The Watch will look similar to the current models but will include larger edge-to-edge screens.

Their overall size will remain similar, making them compatible with existing straps. The iPads are expected to come in sizes measuring 11-inches and 12.9-inches. Apple will also remove the home button and fingerprint sensing and ship the tablets with iPhone X-like gesture interface and Face ID for unlocking the tablet.
