Apple may launch 2018 iPhones on September 12

Samsung has already launched the Galaxy Note 9 phablet and now its Apple’s turn to reveal what it has in its kitty for the ever enthusiastic Apple fans. Leaks and reports have already given us a good enough idea about what to expect from the company when it launches the next generation of iPhones and wearables.

A latest report by MacRumors claims that Apple will unveil the 2018 iPhone line-up on September 11 or 12 and the pre-orders for the same are tipped to start from September 14. Coincidentally, Apple launched the 2017 iPhones on September 12. Citing German mobile service providers, Macrumors said that Apple will begin delivering the iPhones to customers from September 21. Apple often announces the new generation of phones during the second week of September so it seems likely that these dates are correct.

The report says that Apple typically unveils new iPhones on Tuesdays rather than Wednesdays, “but because Tuesday falls on September 11, there has been some speculation that Apple will avoid holding an event on that day.”  The official word on the launch date of the new iPhones will come when Apple starts sending out media invites for its launch event, which it usually does at the end of August.

This year's event is likely to be held at the Steve Jobs Theater on the new Apple Park campus. This year, Apple is rumored to unveil three new iPhones with the same design as last year’s iPhone X. The 2018 iPhones are tipped to feature edge-to-edge displays, no Home button and Face ID support. There will be a second-generation 5.8-inch OLED iPhone, a larger 6.5-inch OLED iPhone and an affordable 6.1-inch iPhone with an LCD display. The affordable phone is expected to come in five different colours. According to Apple analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo, the company is expected to launch a 6.5-inch OLED iPhone for $900-$1,000, the smaller OLED iPhone for $800-$900 and the LCD iPhonefor $600-$700.
