iQOO 5 and iQOO 5 Pro have launched as the new flagship smartphones from Vivo’s sub-brand. The company has also collaborated with BMW Motorsport for two special editions iQOO 5 phones, one with a carbon fibre textured rear panel called Legendary Edition and another with a white leather finish that flaunts a BMW logo band design called Track Edition.
There’s currently no word on when the iQOO 5 series will make it to India. Having said that, the Indian social media handles of iQOO have started teasing the iQOO 5 and its likely the company plans to bring the phones to India sometime soon. Let’s take a brief look at the specifications and pricing of the iQOO 5 and iQOO 5 Pro.
iQOO 5 and iQOO 5 Pro pricingThe iQOO 5 starts at CNY 3,998 (~Rs 43,000) for the base variant with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage, CNY 4,298 (~Rs 46,000) for the 12GB+128GB model and CNY 4,598 (~Rs 49,000) for the 12GB+256GB variant.
iQOO 5 Pro comes with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage and starts at CNY 4,998 (~Rs 53,000) for the Track Version with white leather and CNY 5,498 (~Rs 59,000) for the Legendary Edition with black carbon fibre finish.
iQOO 5 and iQOO 5 Pro specificationsThe iQOO 5 and iQOO 5 Pro have a lot in common and are both made from a combination of metal-glass sandwich design. The iQOO 5 measures 8.3 millimetres in thickness, weighing in at 197 grams while the iQOO 5 Pro is thicker at 8.9 millimetres and 198 grams weight.
Both phones feature a curved 6.56-inch AMOLED screen with a Full HD+ (2376 x 1080 pixels) resolution and 120Hz high-refresh-rate. The screen on the regular iQOO 5 has a slight curve around the edges, unlike the iQOO 5 Pro which comes with a prominent curved screen. The display is HDR10+ certified, houses an in-display fingerprint sensor and has a punch-hole cutout for the selfie camera.
Both the iQOO 5 and 5 Pro are powered by top-of-the-line Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset with an octa-core CPU and Adreno 650 GPU. This is paired with upto 12GB RAM and 256GB UFS 3.1 storage options to choose from. The new iQOO phones run on iQOO UI 1.5 version.
The iQOO 5 series comes with a triple camera setup on the back which consists of a primary 50MP camera with an f/1.9 aperture and OIS support. This is the same Samsung GN1 gimbal sensor as seen on the Vivo X50 Pro+. However, in India, the X50 Pro was launched and not it's Plus variant. The iQOO 5 comes with a secondary 13MP telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom while the iQOO 5 Pro has an 8MP periscope telephoto camera that offers upto 5x optical zoom. The third camera is a 13MP ultra-wide-angle sensor with 120-degree field-of-view. The rear camera setup is capable of recording in 8K UHD and upto 4K UHD in 30FPS. On the front, there’s a 16MP selfie camera housed within the notch cutout.
The iQOO 5 is equipped with a 4,500mAh battery with support for 55W fast charging out-of-the-box. The company claims that iQOO 5’s battery can go from 0-100% in 50 minutes.
On the other hand, the iQOO 5 Pro comes equipped with a 4,000mAh battery but supports 120W fast charging that can fully recharge the battery from 0-100% in 15 minutes tops.
