Redmi Note 8 Pro to be launched in India on October 16

In addition to sending us an invite, Redmi India has posted an image on its official Twitter account, suggesting the launch of the Redmi Note 8 Pro in India on October 16. Except for calling it a ‘#64MPQuadCamBeast’ in the tweet, Redmi India has revealed little information about its upcoming smartphone. As you may recall, the Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 8 Pro were first launched in China in August this year. We expect the Redmi Note 8 Pro to cost approximately Rs 14,000 at the time of launch.

We have received about 64 Million queries from an infinite number of Mi fans for this.  Here's announcing the launch date of this beast of a phone. #64MPQuadCamBeast is coming on 16th October 2019. Can we get 6400 RTs on this? pic.twitter.com/mcvWwfJ26l

If the Chinese manufacturer's launch trend from earlier this year is anything to go by, Redmi India might launch both models on the same day, i.e., the Redmi Note 8 Pro and the slightly smaller Redmi Note 8. As expected, both phones will be successors to the Redmi Note 7 Pro and Redmi Note 7 respectively. But considering the fact that the company skipped the Redmi Note 6 altogether for the lone ‘Pro’ version last year, we think there's a chance the same will happen with the Redmi Note 8 this year. Time will tell.

The Redmi Note 8 Pro's most notable feature is the quad-camera setup on its back panel. The primary sensor is a Samsung-developed 64MP unit with an aperture of f/1.7. Other sensors include an 8MP ultra-wide unit, a 2MP depth sensor, and a 2MP macro lens. On the front, there's a single 20MP selfie shooter that's housed in a tiny ‘drop’ notch on top of the phone's 6.53-inch Full HD+ display. The company says the phone is capable of recording video at 960 frames per second.

The Redmi Note 8 Pro that was launched in China in August this year is powered by a MediaTek Helio G90T chipset, combined with up to 8GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The same configuration is expected to make it to India as well. In addition, the Redmi Note 8 Pro packs a 4500mAh battery with support for 18W fast charging. The phone runs MIUI 10 based on Android 9 Pie. It also features NFC, splash-proof coating, Corning Gorilla Glass 5, and a 3.5mm audio jack.
