Hyundai BlueLink connectivity solution to be unveiled next week, will debut on upcoming Venue

Highlights:
Hyundai to unveil BlueLink tech for future models It has features similar to MG Motor's iSMART Next Gen BlueLink to be featured first on upcoming Hyundai Venue subcompact SUV

Just a couple of days ago, MG Motor unveiled iSMART Next Gen in India, an internet-based connectivity solution for its upcoming car, the MG Hector. In what seems like a move very similar to this, Hyundai India has sent out media invites for a demonstration of its own car connectivity solution, Hyundai BlueLink. The demonstration is scheduled to happen on April 9 in Faridabad. Hyundai’s BlueLink tech is expected to debut in India on the upcoming Hyundai Venue subcompact SUV.

Introduced globally in 2012, Hyundai BlueLink can be described as a connected vehicle system with embedded telematics. It delivers information about the connected car such as monthly vehicle reports and car crash alerts on the owner’s smartphone. It’s also capable of controlling some of the car’s features remotely. For example, the user should be able to turn the car’s air conditioner on remotely using their smartphone minutes before getting in. The version introduced in India is reported to have India-specific features, including a Vodafone Idea-powered eSIM for connecting to the internet.

From a recent report by The Hindu, we learn that the BlueLink technology will also enable a driver to speak to their car. “BlueLink is Hyundai’s global technology which will be introduced in the Indian market with 33 features, of which 10 would be India-specific features such as a panic button, for most practical and holistic connectivity,” said Ji Hong Baek, Managing Director of Hyundai Motor India Engineering, to The Hindu. Hyundai plans to introduce BlueLink on the Venue and include it in future cars in India.

From what we’ve learnt so far, the Venue is a subcompact SUV from Hyundai that will sit in the market along with the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Ford Ecosport, and Tata Nexon. According to numerous reports, Hyundai will launch the Venue on May 21. The car is expected to come with petrol and diesel engine options (both 1.4 litres). The gearbox options will include a manual and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. We should get a better idea about Hyundai BlueLink when it’s demonstrated next week.

Related Read: MG Motor unveils iSMART Next Gen for upcoming MG Hector, an internet-based connectivity solution
