Nokia phone with punch-hole display leaked in renders

Highlights: Nokia is also reportedly working on a phone with a punch-hole display. The Nokia phone, purportedly the Nokia 8.1 Plus, will have a 6.22-inch FullHD+ display. It will have a glass rear panel with dual cameras and fingerprint sensor. What the notch was to 2018, punch-hole displays are poised to be the same in 2019. After Honor and Samsung unveiled their new display designs that have a hole on the top corner of the panel housing the front camera, HMD Global’s Nokia seems to have joined the league as well. @OnLeaks, in partnershsip with 91mobiles has revealed detailed 5K renders of a Nokia phone that has a punch-hole display. It’s not certain what phone this is, but the report claimed this is seemingly the upcoming Nokia 8.1 Plus. The images reveal the alleged Nokia 8.1 Plus will have an almost edge-to-edge display with thin bezels on the sides while the chin on the bottom is thicker, housing the Nokia moniker. According to the report, the smartphone will have a 6.22-inch display which is similar to the Moto P40 that was leaked earlier, showing a punch-hole panel as well. It is expected the display will have a FullHD+ resolution. The Nokia phone also seems to retain the 3.5mm headphone jack, even after major OEMs including OnePlus ditched the legacy port. The phone will also be powered by a USB-C port, as seen from the photo. The power button and the volume rockers are on the left side of the phone.   The leakster also revealed the phone from the back. The renders show a dual camera unit along with an LED flash. housed in a module that has a rather large bump. The dual camera unit, the report claims, will be Zeiss branded. Despite in-display fingerprint sensors becoming a thing, this Nokia phone will reportedly retain the physical fingerprint sensor that will be flushed to the rear glass panel. The images reveal the Android One branding on the bottom indicating that Nokia is likely to continue its successful partnership with Google offering pure, stock Android with regular updates. Most flagship smartphones of 2019 are expected to tout at least three cameras on the back, with in-display fingerprint sensor and edge-to-edge panels. If that’s the case, it’s unlikely that the leaked smartphone will be the flagship for Nokia. Instead, it could be offered as a high-end alternative to the OnePlus 6T. The Nokia 8.1 that launched in December touts an HDR-enabled display with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 710 under the hood. The leaked phone has a design similar to the newly announced phone, save for the stainless steel chamfers which seem to have been replaced by a thick, matte-finish black frame.
