Earlier this month, Samsung revealed its foldable smartphone the Galaxy F or Galaxy Flex. The company did not announce a price for the smartphone when it was showcased at the Samsung annual developers conference, but Yonhap news agency had reported the the device could cost $1770 (approx Rs 1.25 lakh). In a new development, a tipster has tweeted an image claiming that the smartphone in question could force people to shell out at least $1925 (approx Rs 1.36 lakh) or a maximum of $2,565 (approx Rs 1.81 lakh). Tipster bang_gogo posted an image that looks like a conversation. “Samsung Flex/Galaxy Flex $1925-$2565,” a message in the conversation reads. It is not clear whether it is a price range under which the cost of the smartphone will fall or it denotes the price of different variants of the device. Further, it is expected that Samsung may ship Bixby 3.0 with the Galaxy Flex smartphone. The announcement was reportedly made during the Bixby Developer Day event that Samsung hosted on November 20. The event, held in Seoul, South Korea, saw Samsung and developers brainstorming on the company’s AI assistant’s ecosystem and it was announced that the company is working on a new version of Bixby whcih is expected to bring more features to the foldable phone. DJ Koh, CEO of Samsung's Mobile Business Division recently said that the company will manufacture at least one million units of the Galaxy F. He did not share any information on the launch date, saying the device will “definitely launch” in the first half of 2019. “Given Samsung Electronics' product capacity, for a flagship product we produce a minimum of one million units. For the foldable phone, initial stock will be over one million units and if the market reaction is positive, we can produce more,” the executive had said. Industry watchers reportedly say that Samsung is expected to showcase the foldable smartphone at the Mobile World Congress in February, ahead of the official launch the following month. The foldable smartphone, however, is not expected to support the 5G network. Samsung‘s foldable smartphone uses an Infinity Flex Display, which measures 7.3 inches with a 1536 x 2152 resolution with an aspect ratio of 4.2:3 when it is in an unfolded state. When it folds in half to reveal a second display, called “cover display” on the front, it functions as a 4.58-inch phone with a resolution of 840 x 1960 pixels with an aspect ratio of 21:9.
