Nokia could launch at least three new phones at December 5 event

HMD Global is hosting an event on December 5 in Dubai and the company’s Chief Product Officer, Juho Sarvikas has tweeted a save the date for the event. Nokia is expected to unveil three new phones at the upcoming event as the teaser image hints at the same. The teaser is a bit dark and it’s difficult to make out which phones these could be, however, on brightening the image, one will observe that at least two of the three phones have a notch on top of their displays. The handset on the right doesn’t seem to feature a notch and rumours suggest that Nokia could announce the Nokia X7 globally or the Nokia 8.1. The Nokia 2.1 is also suspected to be on the way but all the three phones sport a notch.  For the notch free device, it is speculated that it could be the Nokia 9, which is rumoured to come with a conventional 18:9 display, without a notch on top. CAD-based renders of the phone were leaked earlier, suggesting a conventional display with rounded edges and no notch. However, since the prime time of launching phones is usually October since the shopping season is just around the corner, it seems highly unlikely that Nokia might launch any new flagship this late in the year and we might only get to see some phones that are meant for the local market. As always, since everything is a speculation at this point in time, you should take it with a pinch of salt.  Nokia launches many phones as China exclusives and then rebrands and announces them globally at a later date. The same is expected to happen with the recently launched Nokia X7 that was launched in China last month. The phone is speculated to be rebranded as the Nokia 8.1, instead of the conventional Nokia 7.1 Plus, since a device with the same name was spotted on Geekbench and was listed running on the Snapdragon 710 SoC with 4GB RAM. These are the same specs as the Nokia 7.1 Plus. You can learn more about the device here.
