Xiaomi will launch its Mi Mix 3 smartphone at an event on October 25 in China and the device has been already unveiled by the company. The handset’s specs are yet to be revealed, however, leaks and teasers have provided a good idea of what hardware the device could come with. The company recently tweeted out an image of the phone, showcasing its near bezel-less design with a sliding display. Here is everything we know about the phone so far. Design and Display Alongside the image showing off the phone, Xiaomi also published a video that shows the slider mechanism in action. At first glance, it seems similar to what we have seen on the Oppo Find X, but it is a non-motorised manual slider. Instead of raising the front camera assembly, the slider can be used to pull the display of the Mi Mix 3 down to reveal the dual front cameras. As the cameras are now tucked underneath the display, the phone has gone near bezel-less but there’s still a slim chin on the bottom. 960 frames per second, slow motion video recording. However, newer reports and images of the phone’s rear panel show a fingerprint sensor below the dual cameras on the back. So it seems unlikely that the phone will feature an in-display fingerprint sensor. Processor and Variants The Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 is expected to be the company’s next flagship and is most likely to launch running on the Snapdragon 845 SoC. It is confirmed to be a 5G enabled phone and will come with 10GB RAM. The device is on its way to becoming the first phone to be launched with 10GB RAM, unless Oppo launches its rumoured 10GB RAM version of the Find X first. Coming back to the Mi Mix 3, it is suggested to feature 256GB of internal storage. Camera, OS and Expected Pricing The aforementioned official teaser video of the phone showed off the 24MP dual cameras on the front. The device is also expected to support Face Unlock, which has been demoed before and seems to be pretty swift. On the rear, the Mi Mix 3 is reported to feature a 12MP + 12MP vertically stacked dual-camera setup. The smartphone is also confirmed to support super slow-mo recording at 960 fps, which is not surprising as the Snapdragon 845 does support it. However, the feature was not enabled on the Mi Mix 2S as there also needs to be dedicated onboard memory to support the feature. 960 frames per second, slow motion video recording. The phone could also get a dedicated button to call up the company’s digital assistant, Xiao AI. In terms of pricing, the smartphone could start at CNY 3799 (Rs 40,000 approx).
