PUBG Mobile completes server maintenance ahead of version 090 rollout on October 25

Tencent seems to be done with its scheduled maintenance of PUBG Mobile in preparation for the upcoming version 0.9.0 update. The company had announced that game servers would be down from 1AM to 4AM UTC (6:30AM to 9:30AM IST) today. It seems like the company is done with the maintenance and the servers are now working.  The maintenance should be in preparation for the version 0.9.0 of the game, which is scheduled to be available from October 25 onwards. The new update brings a host of new features and updates to the game, including Night Mode for the Erangel map. As the name would suggest, this lets the map alternate between day and night randomly when playing Classic Mode. The game also gets Night Vision goggles, which should help out at night. Other changes includes new buildings in areas, cover spots next to rivers, and trees in empty areas.  With Halloween just around the corner, the update also adds some effects to celebrate the holiday. The Spawn Island now features a festive makeover with pumpkins. Enemies that are killed by the Hellfire AKM, will become scarecrows, while a grenade explosion will cause a ‘spooky face’ to appear. There’s also a 50% chance to activate Night Mode when the Halloween event period is active.  Other new additions that players can look forward to is a new weapon and vehicle in the Sanhok Map. This includes the QBU DMR, which replaces the Mini14 rifle, and the Rony pickup truck. On top of this, Vehicles will now play music. However, this can be turned off by heading to the vehicle settings. Interestingly, the update will also bring a new matchmaking system to PUBG Mobile. This system will first attempt to match teammates that speak the same language. The developers also note that finding matches should be faster and players should be able to reach their appropriate tiers easily. The estimated time for matchmaking should be more accurate as well.  Hopefully, the new matchmaking system will work a lot better than it does on the PC version of the game. A new system was introduced in Update 22, but it faced backlash from players soon after it way rolled out to players. As compensation, the developers announced that all players who logged in before 5:30AM Oct 24, would get 20,000BP and a Black Beanie with Headphones clothing item.   And we are back online now that maintenance is over! So #squadup and get some #WinnerWinnerChickenDinner! https://t.co/0maUUOvuQU — PUBG MOBILE (@PUBGMOBILE) October 24, 2018
