Android Oreo update roadmap for Samsungs mid-range smartphones revealed

It seems like a bunch of Samsung’s older devices are in line to be updated to Android Oreo. Turkish website, Guncel Miyiz has posted a roadmap for devices tipped to receive the update. According to the website, devices like the Samsung Galaxy J5 Prime, Galaxy J7 Pro, Galaxy J7 2016 and even tablets like the Galaxy Tab A will be updated to Android Oreo by the end of the year.

You can see the entire list of the devices on the website here. According to the list, the first phase of rollouts will occur in September, followed by subsequent rollouts in October, November and December. It should be noted that the updates for the tablets will only happen in December. Regardless of when the updates will happen, it’s good to know that Samsung is supporting its mid-rage devices, even after two years of launch.

A couple of months back, it was reported that Samsung managed to pip Xiaomi in the race to ship the most number of devices in India in Q2 2018. The report noted the success of Samsung in the quarter could be attributed to its J series of devices, notably its refreshed line-up.

The current development should be good news for not just those who previously purchased a Samsung mid-ranger, but also to new buyers as who have purchased a J series device. Hopefully, Samsung will continue the trend and offer the Android Pie update on its current mid-range line-up as well.
