Seems like a slightly less powerful variant of the BlackBerry Key2 might be launched soon. As per Android Police, the BlackBerry Key2 LE will be a less expensive variant of the Key 2 for those who want the same qwerty keyboard experience but can live with downgraded specs.
The device is expected to be unveiled at IFA this year and as per the report, it will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor, instead of the Snapdragon 660, which powered the Key2. There is no info about what the device could cost.
The upcoming BlackBerry Key2 LE is speculated to feature the same 4.5-inch 1080 x 1620 LCD display as the Key2. However, it is said to come with 4GB RAM and 3000mAh battery, down from 6GB RAM and 3500mAh battery. There might also be a 32GB internal storage variant this time. In terms of optics, the device is said to feature a 13MP + 5MP dual rear cameras as compared to the 12MP + 12MP sensors on its predecessor.
The Key2 LE will reportedly feature the full BlackBerry keyboard where the spacebar doubles as a fingerprint sensor, and come with a shortcut key that was present in the Key2. Additionally, the report states that the Key2 LE might not feature the trackpad functionality built into the keyboard, like the KeyOne and the Key2. BlackBerry has been steadily launching smartphones.
Last month, the company launched the Key2 and it recently launched its full-screen Android phones, the Evolve and EvolveX smartphones in India for Rs 24,990 and Rs 34,990, respectively. The two devices were designed in India and are being manufactured at Optiemus’ Noida facility. Highlight of the two smartphones are a 18:9 full-view display, Dolby Surround Sound, dual-cameras, and quick wireless charging technology.
The BlackBerry EvolveX features a 5.99-inch IPS LCD display, which is protected by 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 5. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 64-bit Octa-Core processor and comes in one variant with 6GB RAM + 64GB storage, which can be expanded up to 2TB. There is a rear mounted fingerprint sensor and it runs on Android 8.1 Oreo OS. In terms of optics, the smartphone sports a dual-camera setup with Dual Tone LED flash on the rear.
There is a 12MP primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture and the a secondary 13MP sensor comes with f/2.6 aperture. On the front, it comes with a 16MP camera with f/2.0 aperture. The EvolveX is backed by a 4000mAh battery that also supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 technology and wireless charging. Similar to the EvolveX, the BlackBerry Evolve offers a 5.99-inch IPS LCD display with an 18:9 aspect ratio.
The smartphone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 Octa-Core 64-bit processor clocked at 1.8Ghz. Evolve runs on Android 8.1 Oreo OS. It comes in a 4GB RAM + 64GB storage variant. The memory is expandable up to 256GB. It supports the face unlock feature and comes with a fingerprint sensor. In terms of optics, Evolve sports two 13MP+13MP cameras with dual tone LED flash on the back.
The rear-camera can record videos in 2K quality. On the front, there is 16MP wide angle camera with with tetracell technology which lets the sensor take brighter photographs in the dark and more detailed ones in well-lit environments.
