Apple is rumoured to announce three new iPhones in September, one of will reportedly be a low-cost iPhone with a 6.1-inch LCD display. Designs of the three phones have leaked time and again in blueprints, dummy models and videos, however, a new report by Hi-Tech.Mail.Ru sheds some light on the specifications of the inexpensive iPhone, suggesting that it could be, in a way, be the successor of the iPhone SE. As per the report, references like "iPhone xx", "iPhone9.7" and “LCP” with the model number “N84” for the 6.1-inch iPhone have been found in Apple’s Xcode application. An interesting bit is that alongside the references, the 6.1-inch iPhone is said to sport a DCI-P3 LCD panel and Apple's older A10 Fusion SoC.
To recall, the A10 debuted with the iPhone 7 and 7 plus. In line with previously leaked images and rumours, the new report states that the upcoming smartphone will come with a notch on top of its display and support Apple’s Face ID as well. It will reportedly come with at least 3GB RAM and its rear camera could get a slightly bigger sensor. A dual-SIM variant of the smartphone is also speculated. An earlier report suggested that the Cupertino based company could launch the 2018 lineup of iPhones on September 11 or 12. Also, pre-orders for phones could start from September 14 and the company might commence delivering the iPhones to customers from September 21. As mentioned earlier, Apple could unveil three new iPhones this year with the same design as last year’s iPhone X.
The upcoming iPhones are rumoured to sport edge-to-edge display with a notch and Face ID support and no Home button. Reports suggest that there could be a second-generation 5.8-inch iPhone with an OLED panel, a larger 6.5-inch OLED iPhone and an affordable 6.1-inch iPhone with an LCD display. The lower priced 6.1-inch iPhone could be launched in five different colours. As per the Apple analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo, the company could price the 6.5-inch OLED iPhone for $900-$1,000, while the smaller OLED iPhone could cost $800-$900.
The 6.1-inch LCD iPhone might be priced between $600-$700. There are reports that Apple could also release the new MacBook Air laptops and a new “professional-focused" Mac mini computer at the upcoming event in September. Additionally, the company is also said to launch new iPads and announce the availability of its new AirPower wireless charger at the event. The upcoming laptops are said to be powered by Intel’s 14nm Kaby Lake processors instead of the newer 10nm processors Intel Canon Lake chips and will reportedly be priced at $1,200 (Rs 84,000 approx).
